Flash Coffee marks one million cups sold milestone with a special bonus for all baristas
SINGAPORE, 30 AUGUST 2021 – Flash Coffee, one of the fastest growing tech-enabled coffee chains in Asia, today announced it sold its first millionth drink, driven by the strong demand for affordable and high quality coffee in Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia. To mark this milestone, Flash Coffee will be awarding a special bonus to all full-time and part-time baristas, who are instrumental to the brand’s success and at the heart of Flash Coffee’s customer experience.
Besides its commitment to providing quality coffee and best-in-class service, empowering and supporting its employees is core to Flash Coffee’s brand values. The barista bonuses will be prorated based on how long they have been with the company, and the longest-serving baristas may receive a significant payment of almost up to two months of their salary.
“My Co-founder, Sebastian, and I are excited to be celebrating this business milestone. We recognise the dedication of our baristas in getting us to one million cups, and are glad to be able to offer a token of appreciation for their hard work on the frontlines with this special bonus. It is important for us to build a company that nurtures our employees, where everyone wins together and our team members are rewarded for their contribution,” said David Brunier, Co-founder & CEO of Flash Coffee.
David Brunier added, “Reaching one million cups is an affirmation that our brand is progressing in the right direction, with great potential for this success to be replicated in the new markets in our pipeline. Just last Monday, we officially launched Flash Coffee in our fourth city in Asia, Taiwan. Now that we have reached our first million drinks sold, we have our eyes on the ambitious goal of selling one million cups per month as we look to expand into Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam.”
The coffee chain will be celebrating the launch of 100 stores regionally at the end of August, majority of which opened since the company’s last financing round in April this year. Despite launching amid the pandemic, the brand has gained strong traction in its markets, with the majority of its stores already achieving profitability and demonstrating the success of its business model. Flash Coffee’s achievements are a testament to its progression and robust growth, and the brand is currently on a strong growth trajectory of launching 4 to 5 new stores per week.
David Brunier, Co-founder & CEO, and Sebastian Hannecker, Co-founder, COO & CFO, founded the company to fill a crucial gap in the market, which is to make premium coffee accessible to Asia’s rising middle class. With the coffee industry largely run offline, the founders saw massive potential for digitisation and creating optimised processes through technology, especially with the pandemic impacting the way consumers order and consume coffee. Flash Coffee’s innovative business strategy has seen cost efficiencies, hence allowing customers to enjoy high-quality products at affordable prices.
